IFR 128 - BioSciences Gerland - Lyon SudThe Federative Institute of Research 128 (IFR128) "BioSciences Gerland - Lyon Sud " was created on January 1, 2003 and constitutes a major potential of research in "Life sciences". Indeed, many fields of modern biology are covered : cellular biology, plant biology, biochemistry of proteins, bioinformatics, structural biology, molecular evolution, genomique of the organisms, immunology and virology.
This IFR is composed by 9 research units with 69 teams and nearly 720 personnel of research. These laboratories are located mainly on the site of Lyon-Gerland, within the following structures: ENS Lyon (Ecole Normale Supérieure), UCBL-Gerland (University Claude Bernard Lyon1), the Institute of Biology and Chemistry of Proteins (IBCP), Tower INSERM-CERVI (Research and Studies Center in Virology and Immunology) and on the site of the Faculty of Medicine Lyon Sud.
