BUDGET:30.000 €
FUNDING:22.500 €
INSTRUMENT:Exploratory Awards
PROGRAMME:LIFE QUALITY
This project tries to study the possible adoption of an alternative processing that does not require incineration. The proposed alternative is their use jointly with vegetal wastes into the composting process, having as outcome a stable product to be employed as manure for gardening and as vegetal fertiliser for reforestation. The high protein content of animal flours will be offset with vegetal wastes from the pruning of trees, fruit plantations or gardens. By combining vegetal material, carbon-rich, with the meals, nitrogen rich, an optimal relationship is achieved for compost production. Once the product will have been stabilised, it would be possible to use it as high-valued fertiliser for gardening, for reforestation and for agriculture in general. The objectives fixed are: to research on compost-making with meat meals not classified a RSM, determining the major parameters having an influence on the process and those that will optimise it, such as the relative humidity of the mix, its temperature, input of nutrients (N, P, C), aeration requirements...
